Frequently Asked Questions
Everything couples usually ask before booking a discovery call. If your question isn’t here, the discovery call is the place to ask it.
About the work
Is this therapy or coaching?
It’s coaching, not therapy. I’m a Diploma-qualified Professional Coach through The Coaching Academy, with over 20 years of relevant skills, qualifications and experience. I’m listed as a counsellor on Google because that’s the category most people search for, but the work itself is structured coaching: solution-focused, forward-looking, and built around science-based tools you can apply between sessions.
How is this different from Relate or traditional marriage counselling?
- Specialist focus. I work with couples all day, every day. Most general counsellors see couples occasionally.
- Forward-looking. Traditional counselling often spends time unpicking the past. I focus on where you are now and where you want to get to.
- Tools, not just talk. Every session gives you something practical to take away.
What qualifications do you have?
Diploma in Professional Coaching from The Coaching Academy. CPD in Positive Intelligence, The Chimp Theory, The Brain Academy, and Irene Lyon’s trauma and stress regulation. Extensive study in Imago Therapy, The Gottman Institute and Attachment Theory. 20+ years of relevant experience. Published author of Mindset Dad (2020).
Do you use CBT or EMDR?
No. Those are different modalities and I don’t claim to practise them. If you specifically need CBT or EMDR, I’d recommend looking for a qualified practitioner in those areas.
Pricing & logistics
Cost, payment and timeline
How much does the programme cost?
The core programme is £1,000 for a bespoke 6 to 12 week package. Includes live coaching sessions tailored to your situation, full access to the resource library (Google Drive of exercises, videos, worksheets), and unlimited messaging support between sessions.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes. The £1,000 can be split across the programme as fortnightly automatic payments, so you’re not paying a single upfront lump sum. Set up on the discovery call.
Is there a cheaper option?
My programme is my programme, I don’t offer watered-down tiers because what works is the full structure. There’s a library of free masterclasses and resources if you want to get real value from my approach before deciding to invest.
How long does the programme take?
Usually 6 to 12 weeks, with up to 3 months as the outer limit for more complex situations. The exact length is tailored to what you need. My philosophy: as many tools as possible in the shortest sensible time frame.
Sessions & delivery
Are sessions in person or online?
Sessions are delivered online over Zoom. Works brilliantly for most couples: join from home, from two different locations if you’re not living together, or fit sessions around work and childcare without the commute.
How often do we meet?
Usually weekly during the core programme. Consistency matters more than rigidity. What doesn’t work is booking three weeks between sessions and losing momentum.
What does a session actually look like?
- Check-in on how the week has been and how you’ve used what we covered last time
- Introducing the framework or model you need most at this stage
- Working through how it applies to your relationship
- Agreeing what you’ll practise before we meet again
What’s the messaging support?
Between sessions, you can message me directly when something comes up. If a conversation is escalating on a Wednesday night and you need a grounding exercise or a way to reframe, I’m there. Included throughout the programme at no extra cost.

Who I work with
Common situations
Couples who aren’t married?
Yes. Any committed couple: married, engaged, long-term partners, newlyweds, people living together, long-distance. What matters is the commitment.
LGBTQ+ couples?
Yes, absolutely. The methodology works the same regardless of the shape of the relationship.
Intercultural couples?
Yes, regularly. Different expectations around extended family, religion, parenting, gender roles. Workable challenges with the same frameworks tailored to your situation.
Individuals, or only couples?
Both. Clients age 29 to 70+ come to me as individuals wanting to work on their marriage. One person shifting how they show up has a real impact on the whole dynamic.
What if my partner won’t come?
Common situation, not a dealbreaker. Come alone. We work on your patterns, triggers, communication. Often that creates enough of a shift that your partner notices and becomes open to engaging.
Newlyweds or pre-marriage?
Some of the best work I do is with engaged couples and newlyweds. Not a sign something is wrong, a sign you’re taking it seriously.
Results & expectations
Does it work?
It works when both people (or one person working alone) are genuinely willing to engage. I’ve had couples certain they were finished walk out the other side reconnected. I’ve also had couples where one partner’s heart wasn’t in it from the start, and no methodology in the world can override that. Best evidence is the 45+ five-star reviews from real clients.
How quickly will we see changes?
Many couples report noticeable shifts within the first two or three sessions, usually in how conversations flow and how they’re recognising their patterns. Bigger changes typically build across the full 6 to 12 weeks as the tools compound.
What if something new comes up after the programme?
You’re not abandoned at the finish line. Many past clients come back for ad-hoc check-in sessions when life throws something new at them. Available as standalone sessions whenever you need them.
What’s the biggest reason people don’t get results?
Honestly? When one partner’s heart isn’t in it. If one of you is showing up reluctantly because the other dragged you into it, we’ll spot that on the discovery call. Price and timing are usually surface objections, the real dealbreaker is commitment.
Still have questions?
The discovery call is the right place to ask. No commitment, no sales pitch.
