If you have just found out
If you have just found out, you do not have to decide everything today
If you are reading this in the rawness of the first few days, I am sorry you are here. Whether you have discovered an affair or confessed to one, the ground tends to drop away. Sleep goes. Appetite goes. Your mind loops the same questions at three in the morning and lands nowhere.
The most important thing I can say is this. You do not have to decide the whole future of your relationship today. The pressure to know right now whether you stay or go is real, but it is rarely the moment to make that call. Big decisions made in shock are usually decisions made twice.
What you can do is give yourself a little structure. Decide what the next few days look like, not the next few years. If you want help holding that, that is exactly what affair recovery counselling is for, and where the wider work of relationship counselling begins.
Whether you have been searching for couples therapy, couples counselling or marriage counselling in Manchester, what most people are actually after is the same thing. A way out of the loop.

The honest answer
Can a relationship survive an affair?
Yes, many do. I will not pretend every relationship comes back from infidelity, because that would not be honest, and you deserve honesty right now more than reassurance. But a great many couples do come through it, and some go on to build something more open and more solid than they had before.
What I have seen, again and again, is that survival is far less about the affair itself and far more about what happens next. Whether the hurt can be heard without it being shut down. Whether the person who strayed can stay present in the discomfort rather than getting defensive. Whether you can slowly understand how you both arrived here, without that understanding ever becoming an excuse.
So I will not promise you an outcome, and I would be wary of anyone who does. What I can offer is hope that is honest. With the right work, the right pace and a structure to hold it, coming back from this is genuinely possible. Some couples find their way to that through broader marriage counselling, and others need the specific focus of affair recovery first.
What the work looks like
What affair recovery with me involves
Affair recovery is not a single conversation where everything gets aired and forgiven. It is a process, and it works best with some structure underneath it. Here is roughly how I approach it.
Steadying things first. Before we go anywhere near the detail, we settle the immediate storm. That means agreeing how you talk to each other this week, what you do with the worst of the questions, and how you both get through the day without the rupture reopening every few hours.
Understanding what happened. Rebuilding trust depends on making sense of how the affair came about. Not to justify it, and never to lay blame at the betrayed partner’s door, but because an affair that stays a mystery is an affair that keeps you stuck. We look honestly at the patterns and the distance that were already there, together.
Rebuilding trust step by step. Trust is not switched back on with an apology. It is rebuilt through small, repeated, reliable actions over time. I help you put those in place, and help the betrayed partner say what they actually need in order to feel safe again.
Support for both of you. This is important. The betrayed partner carries the obvious pain and gets real space for it. But the person who strayed is usually carrying shame, fear and their own questions, and they need support too if the recovery is going to hold. I hold space for both of you, and I take no one’s side. The work itself is built on the same foundations as my couples therapy programme, focused here on trust and repair.

Privacy comes first
In person or online, in complete confidence
Affair recovery is deeply private, and discretion matters more here than almost anywhere. So however we work, what is said between us stays between us. You can see me in whichever way feels safest for you both.
In person. I see couples face to face at my practice in Stockport, in the heart of Greater Manchester. For some couples there is something steadying about doing this hard work in a calm, private room, away from home and the reminders it holds, with nothing to do but focus on each other.
Online. Many couples prefer the discretion of working over Zoom from their own home, with no waiting room and no risk of bumping into anyone they know. The recovery work, the structure and the support between sessions are exactly the same. Plenty of couples find it easier to be honest about something this raw from their own sofa.
Either way, you are not being judged, and nothing you say will go any further. We can talk through which option suits you on the discovery call.

How it works
How the work unfolds, and what it costs
It starts with a free discovery call. We talk through what has happened, what you each want, and whether I am the right fit to help. There is no pitch and no obligation, and you can come to that call on your own if your partner is not ready yet.
From there I build a programme around your situation, usually six to twelve weeks. You get live sessions, in person at my Stockport practice or online over Zoom, a private library of exercises and resources in a shared Google Drive, and unlimited messaging support between sessions, which matters a great deal when the difficult moments tend to arrive at 9pm rather than in the room.
On cost, I work as a single programme of around £1,000, with an optional fortnightly payment plan, rather than charging an open-ended fee per session. You can see the full picture from the start, and the aim is to give you what you need and then step back, not to keep you in the room indefinitely.
Before you decide
Have a look at how I work
Choosing who to trust with something this painful is a big decision. Watch a short message about how I work, so you have a feel for me before you ever book a call. Couples often tell me this is the part that helped them feel they could be honest.

Common questions about affair recovery
If yours is not here, the discovery call is the right place to ask.
Can a relationship really survive an affair?
Many do, though I would not promise it for any one couple, because that would not be honest. Whether you come through it depends far less on the affair itself and far more on what happens next, whether the hurt can be heard, whether trust can be rebuilt slowly, and whether you both want to do that work. The recovery is possible, and it takes both of you.
Do you take sides?
No, and I will not. My role is not to judge or to apportion blame. The betrayed partner gets real space for their pain, and the partner who strayed gets support too, because recovery only holds when both of you are held. I stay even-handed throughout. This is your relationship, not a courtroom.
How long does affair recovery take?
My programme usually runs six to twelve weeks, and many couples notice the worst of the storm settling within the first few sessions. Rebuilding trust fully takes longer than that and continues beyond our work together, but the aim is to give you the structure and the tools to keep going on your own.
Should we stay together?
That is not my decision to make, and I would be wary of anyone who tried to make it for you. What I can do is help you both get clear enough, and calm enough, to decide well rather than in shock. Some couples choose to rebuild, some choose to part with more understanding. Either way, you should be the ones who choose.
What about emotional affairs?
An affair does not have to be physical to break trust. Emotional affairs, where a connection with someone else has crossed a line that hurts your partner, can be every bit as painful, and I work with couples on these too. The recovery process is much the same, focused on understanding what happened and rebuilding safety.
Is it confidential?
Yes. What is said in our sessions stays private. Online sessions over Zoom add an extra layer of discretion if you would rather not attend in person, with no waiting room and no risk of running into anyone you know. Privacy is taken seriously throughout.
How much does it cost?
I work as a single programme of around £1,000 for a bespoke six to twelve week package, with an optional fortnightly payment plan, rather than an open-ended per-session fee. Live sessions, a resource library and unlimited messaging support are all included, so there are no per-hour surprises along the way.
